Below is an example of what Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can do for a company. The graph below shows how two companies rank over time for a keyword search in Google. These two companies are in direct local competition with each other for the product searched for in this example.
Our client, represented by the red line in the chart, was showing up on the 6th or 7th page of this search result when we started working with them. Users are very unlikely to search down to the 6th page to find a result, especially when a good result from our competitor, the green line, was on the first page. In effect our client was not showing up for this product search and their direct competitor did.
Through our SEO efforts, as you can see in the graph below, we moved our client not only to the first page, but ahead of their competition. Because our client took a spot in the top 10, we have also actually pushed their competitor down to the 2nd page which is less likely to be seen by a purchaser of this product. As a result, our client is now selling more of this product since reaching page one of Google.
